The Underhills: Antepenultimate episode of season 1. The episode title refers to little people who lives underground. After an unpleasant initial reception from the Underhills to Robin they made for useful allies against the Sheriff and his men. The Underhills are an enjoyable incorporation in this version of the Robin Hood legend.

Merry No More: Penultimate episode of season 1. Written by Jean-Marc Lofficier. Incidentally Lofficier had written books about Doctor Who. Had no idea before now that he had written TV episodes including this Young Robin Hood episode. A bit of continuity as it featured the return of the boar from the first episode The Wild Boar of Sherwood. Enjoyable episode even it looks a little disconcerting to see Robin playing pranks on his men. I mean that is so immature.

There was an allusion to Robin Hood in the hour long children’s film A Hitch In Time (1978). This maybe due to the fact that Troughton had decades earlier became the first actor to Robin Hood on television. However he does not get to dress up as Robin Hood again. That instead was done by boy actor Michael Vey as Paul Gibson.

Young Robin Hood
The Phantom Horse – Season 1 finale. A good crossover with the King Arthur legend with Sir Lancelot making an appearance here with the episode title horse providing a good catalyst for it.

Young Robin Hood
The Black Bog of Sherwood – Season 2 opener. Pretty enjoyable beginning to the second season including an intriguing menace. Despite being menacing to them at first, the band sure made good use of this menace against their real enemies, the sheriff and his men.

Message from a Distant Land – Season 2, Episode 2. The sheriff makes a falsehood about what happened to Robin’s father in the Holy Land to flush him out. This prompted Robin to have a determination to go to the Holy Land to see his father. Quite good the way this episode develop and the unexpected allies that he received.

Lord of the Trees – Season 2, Episode 3. Not bad on what the episode title was about. Good that Herne gets a little more to do here than usual. Nice plot device about the Blessing.

The Band Takes The Cake – Season 2, Episode 4. What a riotous birthday party thanks to the band, all because to retrieve a cat.

Good News, Bad News: Season 2, Episode 3. The band’s latest defeat of the sheriff leads to Prince John having him replaced. That is the good news of the title, the bad news is that the prince is replacing him with someone much worst. In order to prevent the appointment of the replacement the band tried to make the old sheriff look good but it isn’t as easy as it seems. The sheriff is much a bungler even with the band trying to make him look good. Absolute fun.

Robin Hood made a cameo in the movie Never Been Kissed (1999) in which someone dressed up as him at the school prom.

The Enchantment: Season 2, Episode 4. The episode title is what happened to Robin upon meeting the witch Lilith in this very eerie episode which saw the return of an old villain. It was also quite sneaky how Gisbourne dealt with a rival.

The Swords of Wayland Part 1: Antepenultimate episode of season 2. Guest stars Dallas Adams and Rula Lenska. Good opening episode of this two-part story. Not bad use of plot device of men pretending to be demons. The spy that was killed by Will definitely deserved what he got. Rula Lenska is pretty good as the villain especially with her coldness.

The Swords of Wayland Part 2: Penultimate episode of season 2. Guest stars Dallas Adams and Rula Lenska. Good conclusion to the story. When Morgwyn of Ravenscar (Rula Lenska) met her end the screen was filled with the colour red. This has been explained in the DVD commentary of this episode as reflecting on the people that she had killed with red being the colour of blood and that is quite remarkable.
The Swords of Wayland was originally shown in 1985 and interestingly Rula Lenska and Dallas Adams had appeared but narrowly missed each other in Doctor Who as each had appeared in a consecutive story. Rula Lenska was in Resurrection of the Daleks and Adams played Peri's stepfather Howard in the next story Planet of Fire.

The Greatest Enemy: Season 2 finale. The Greatest Enemy ends the second season on a very sad note with Robin being killed off. However being the dead isn’t exactly the end of Robin as this episode had shown and what a comeback that the deceased Robin made towards the end of the episode. I don’t think that The Greatest Enemy was ever intended to be the final episode of Robin of Sherwood especially with the Sheriff saying that it would never be over and it wasn’t over as the series had one more season to go.

Robin Hood (1922): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Hood_(1922_film)Saw it on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKpG4Vmck_EAs it was made in 1922 this is a silent film and starred Douglas Fairbanks as Robin Hood. Other members of the cast include Alan Hale as Little John and it was the first of three films that he had played Little John. He later reprised Little John in The Adventures of Robin Hood & Rogues of Sherwood Forest although the three films are not connected with each other. Quite a good film which included quite good music.
