Joss Whedon is making his own film version of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing set in the present day. The cast includes familiar Whedon contributors Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher, Tom Lenk, Fran Krant and Reed Diamond. For Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof they play lovers which is something they had done before in Angel. muchadothemovie.com/documents/MuchAdoPressRelease.pdfAmong the returning Whedon behind the scenes contributors working on this film is costume designer Shawna Trpcic whose recent non-Whedon work included Torchwood: Miracle Day.

The Joss Whedon version of Much Ado About Nothing is made up of a cast of actors who had worked on Joss Whedon’s TV shows and movies with the two main characters and lovers played by Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker. Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker they get to properly played lovers which is something they did not have much time to do during the entirety of their time together on Angel. Of the other cast members whose character is worth noting is that of Nathan Fillion playing police constable Dogberry. Whedon’s casting of Fillion as a cop may have been influenced by Fillion’s title role in Castle* who is someone who works with the police but is not a cop himself. So it seems that basically on the basis of Castle, Whedon decided to make Fillion a fullyt fledged cop for Much Ado About Nothing. I have seen other versions of Much Ado About Nothing but Whedon’s version in its own right is very enjoyable and the film’s presentation in black and white works well with its contemporary setting. *In the flyer of the movie that I picked up prior to seeing the movie it listed the credits of some of the cast members. Since it is a Joss Whedon film it listed the credits of these cast members with that of Joss Whedon productions they were in. With Fillion’s credits it is that of Castle, Firefly & Serenity. However Castle is the odd one out for Fillion’s credits because although Whedon is a Castle fan he has nothing to do with that show.
