Young Rock is based on the life of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson growing up.
However it is not completely based on fact as it has a framing device of it being set in the 2030s in which the Rock as himself looks back on his life.
In the antepenultimate episode Know Your Role it has The Rock looking back on his early acting roles, hence the episode title and with Uli Latukefu playing the Rock in that period.
Among his acting role was his guest stint in the Star Trek: Voyager episode Tsunkatse although the name of the episode does not get a mention.
In getting the guest stint on Tsunkatse, the Rock wasn't familiar with Star Trek which was emphasised by the fact that he was reading a Star Trek book to brush up his knowledge of it ahead of his guest role and him not knowing the Vulcan salute when presented to him by a Hotel Staffer.
As the Rock is in the dressing role about to perform his guest role he meets the director a woman named Kim (Kali Rocha).
However Tsunkatse was actually directed by a man Mike Vejar and I wondered what Vejar thought about him being turned into a woman for this depiction of the filming of Tsunkatse and whether conversations between Kim and the Rock was based on real conversations between the real Rock and Vejar but I can't find anything on this online.
On the Tsunkatse script, Kim says that the writer did a fine job but did not mention the writer's name.
Tsunkatse is from a story by Gannon Kenney and teleplay by Robert Doherty.
So it is not clear whether Kim meant that Kenney did a fine job in coming up with the story or Doherty for the teleplay of it.
On Tsunkatse the Rock worked mainly in front of the camera with Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine and for this depiction in Young Rock, Jeri is played by Marquel Skinner.
In a conversation during a break between The Rock and Jeri, The Rock says that he is giving 100% in performing his guest role and Jeri commends him on that as she says that a lot of guest stars don't as she then remarks that Andy D(i)ck may have been drunk.
D(i)ck had guest starred in earlier episode Message in a Bottle.
In an interview in 2020, the real Jeri says that she had enjoyed working with The Rock on Tsunkatse at a time before The Rock had rocketed to stardom.
So I would be inclined to believed that Skinner as Jeri's remark about thingy was from a real conversation between her and The Rock and not as an invention for the script.
