Impressions is the second episode of the second Stargate Big Finish season and the first this season for Atlantis.
Released in June 2009 and written by Scott Andrews.
Starring Kavan Smith as Major Evan Lorne and guest stars Nick Briggs as Dr. David Glennie
I read years ago on Vortex, Briggs' account of doing this story with Smith and honestly I didn't think I would get to hear this story myself even it has taken me this long to get here.
Set during season 4 between Lifeline & Doppelganger.
This starts with Lorne being incarcerated at Atlantis as he gets a visit from Dr Glennie, a shrink for events that had recently occured.
In a conversation between the two of them, Lorne what had happened.
Essentially this is to do with beautiful paintings in relation to Atlantis.
Quite a fascinating tale on the said premise and how eventually wraps up with Lorne doing some painting himself.
Impressions therefore refers to art and how it presents itself.
During the conversation between Lorne and Glennie the one bit that really took my attention was when Lorne said that he is not Sherlock Holmes.
While Smith is no Sherlock Holmes, Briggs definitely is him having played him including on Big Finish's Sherlock Holmes ranges that started a couple of years after the release of Impressions.
The accompanied interviews with Smith included how he came to be Atlantis, having first started out on SG-1.
This was released not long after Atlantis had finished its TV run, having been cancelled. Asked how he felt about the cancellation, his response was basically mixed because as an actor he is used to seeing series getting cancelled, the nature of the business he says.
