The second of the Stargate audiobooks from Big Finish and the first for Atlantis and released in May 2008 and written by Sharon Gosling.
Torri Higginson reads this story as well as playing Elizabeth Weir. Also in this story is Timothy Watson as Minister Vilith.
The story begins sometime during season 4 with flashbacks to season 3 between Common Ground & First Strike. it is assumed that Elizabeth was mind-probed by the Asurans shortly after being captured by them at the beginning of season 4 as she remembers the events of the main story here.
The Atlantis team encounter a technology that would serve as a perfect protection from the Wraith but things becomes difficult whilst trying to make a trade for the technology.
Torri Higginson provides a very good reading of A Necessary Evil and served well playing alongside Timothy Watson's character Vilith especially with the tension that has been displayed between the two characters.
At the end of the disc is an interview with Torri Higginson who enjoyed reading A Necessary Evil. She also explained why she did not come back to play Elizabeth for the final season of TV series saying she did not think it provided closure for the character.
