Not Another Happy Ending:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_Another_Happy_Ending
Released in 2013 and starring Karen Gillan and this was her first project after leaving Doctor Who in which she played Eleventh Doctor companion Amy Pond.
Directed by John McKay who previously directed Karen in the TV movie We’ll Take Manhattan
Here Karen played author Jane Lockhart who after having her first book published struggled to write her second book.
Karen as Jane is absolutely fun and the only reason what made this film so enjoyable although Amy Manson as Jane’s fictional creation Marsie who she sees as her muse was also fun to watch.
I have seen many rom-coms but I will go out on a limb due to my great personal bias towards Karen that this is by far my favourite of the genre and interestingly a review of this film described her as a female Hugh Grant. So therefore it is funny that an Eleventh Doctor companion got described to be like the Comic Relief Twelfth Doctor and Karen did appear in two Doctor Who episodes that also featured official Twelfth Doctor actor Peter Capaldi.
Not Another Happy featured the Sunflowers painting by Vincent Van Gogh and in Doctor Who: Vincent and the Doctor, Vincent painted this very painting in dedication to Amy who was of course played by Karen.
When Karen was introduced as Amy Pond in Doctor Who: The Eleventh Hour, she did not look away when the Eleventh Doctor was changing.
In Not Another Happy Ending there is a scene that felt like the male payback to that Doctor Who scene.
As a man I really like that scene due to it played out by Karen and Karen herself admitted that she was nervous doing it:

A very brave girl and she excelled at it.
