Modeled on the Beyond The TARDIS articles compiled by Dominic May in Doctor Who Magazine, this thread is about Whoniverse people in non-Whoniverse projects and parallels that can be drawn between Who related storylines to that of non-Who related plots or even what has ocurred in the real world.
Yesterday bought the complete series of The Man In A Suitcase co-created by David Whitaker's successor as story editor, Dennis Sp(o)oner and theme tune by Ron Grainer & the first season of Juliet Bravo.
Anyone who has listened to Deadline would know that according to this story if there was no Doctor Who we as Doctor Who fans would have been Juliet Bravo fans instead.

The October 2010 issue of FILMINK has an interview with Carey Mulligan due to the release of her new movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps which reveals that the movie's director Oliver Stone cast her in that film due to seeing her in An Education in which he got smitten by her. Carey says that she did not grow up wanting to be a Hollywood actress and that she wanted to be in a Broadway play. According to the article Carey's next film is Never Let Me Go with her good mate Keira Knightley. The House season 7 opener Now What? shown this week on 10 was written by Doris Egan. According to Wikipedia she has written at least one more episode for this season, the as yet titled 15th episode. Doris Egan also gets credit as consulting producer. The October 2010 issue of FILMINK magazine it has an interview with film director Jay Roach which mentioned that he was producer of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie. Unless Jay Roach is a Doctor Who fan and/or its spinoff, Roach's involvement in the Hitchhiker film makes him a hypocrite. The article's writer Erin Free did get it right when she described Hitchhiker as a cult. This is in contrast to the mainstream success that Doctor Who has achieved in recent years. In the same issue of FILMINK, Erin Free reviewed Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps in which described Carey Mulligan's performance as a standout. The House of Eliott 3.4 featured James Garbutt along with the regular or recurring appearances by Jamie Foreman and Toby Whithouse. Yesterday finished watching The Stone Tape. More on this here: beckyleedownunder.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=miscellaneous&thread=615Warehouse 13 makes its debut on 7mate on Thursday September 30 8:30pm followed by Caprica in its Australian debut at 9:30pm. Jane Espenson co-created the former show and showruns the latter.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was reviewed in At The Movies in which Margaret Pomerantz said it was enjoyable giving it 3 and a half stars while David Stratton was less impressed giving it 3 stars. Carey Mulligan was shown in the clips of the movie being shown but nothing much was said about her.
Just before seeing a special about Merlin (unrelated to the current BBC TV series) on SBS One last night saw an ad for a Katherine Jenkins CD.

FILMINK October 2010: In the review by Mark Hanson of the Predators soundtrack composed by John Debney, he gave it three discs. Hanson said that while fans of the original Predator score will applaud Debney's reimagining of the material, he said that it is a shame that Debney did not produce more of his own material and hopes that he gets the chance to do so in Robert Rodriquez' upcoming Machete.

I started my viewing of Juliet Bravo on the same day UKTV had a rerun of Doctor Who: Turn Left which in turn had me to read the analysis about the episode in DWM’s 200 Golden Moments. Quite a coincidence this is since the audio Doctor Who Unbound : Deadline which referenced Juliet Bravo was about a world without Doctor Who and Turn Left was about a world without the Doctor.

Saw Warehouse 13 2.1 to 2.7 a couple of days ago. Very enjoyable. Episode 2.4 at the beginning had the agents in Cardiff looking for the sword Excalibur. Might be a sly reference to Torchwood since Torchwood took place in Cardiff for its first three seasons and Excalibur was the name of the original idea for a non-Who related TV series before it ultimately became the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood.
The House of Eliott 3.5 featured Christpher Tranchell.

Read in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph that Jim Broadbent has been cast as Denis Thatcher in The Iron Lady, the biopic about Margaret Thatcher.
In At The Movies, David Walliams was seen in clips of Dinner for Schmucks. David Stratton was not impressed with Dinner for Schmucks giving it one star saying that it was comedy that was not working. Margaret Pomerantz gave it three stars. Nick Dent from the Sydney Sunday Telegraph gave Dinner for Schmucks two and a half stars with the verdict of “Overcooked”.
Last Chance to See was a radio series and subsequently a book by Douglas Adams (with Mark Carwardine) which looked at animal species which were endangered or threatened with extinction. Last year there was a 6-part TV series of Last Chance to See with Stephen Fry in place of the late Douglas Adams shown on the BBC in the UK. The TV series makes its Australian debut on ABC1 on Sunday October 10 7:30pm. I have already seen the first two episodes and Stephen Fry makes for a good host. Interestingly the ABC promo for Last Chance To See the voiceover makes no mention of Douglas Adams as the focus was solely on Fry.
The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes: The Golden Pin-Nez was adapted by Gary Hopkins and guest starred Nigel Planer who incidentally played an inspector called Hopkins!
Finished reading the book For My Eyes Only written by James Bond director John Glen about his experiences not just with the Bond movies (including the two Timothy Dalton movies) but on TV and movies in general. Glen wrote For My Eyes Only was written with Marcus Hearn. Glen gives special thanks to Hearn in the Acknowledgements page. Also thanked are Andrew Pixley and Adrian Rigelsford.
