Herne’s Son Part 1: Season 3 opener. Having killed off Robin of Loxley (Michael Praed) at the end of the previous season, Robin of Sherwood managed to carry on with this the third and final season with Robert of Huntington (Jason Connery) stepping in as the new Robin Hood. Other versions of Robin Hood did present him as having the Loxley or Huntington name but Robin of Sherwood is perhaps the only version of Robin Hood that has presented Loxley and Huntington as separate characters. Overall a nice setting up of the third season with the introduction of Jason Connery as Robert of Huntington. Connery’s father Sean had also played Robin Hood a decade earlier in the movie Robin and Marian. While Jason got to play Robin Hood just like his father did, he however wasn’t fortunate enough to play the well known character that his father had played that of James Bond.

In Community 1.7 Introduction to Statistics it featured a Halloween costume party at the college that this series takes place in and at that party it had a female professor (played by Lauren Stamile) dressing as Robin Hood. The fact that she is a professor in a Robin Hood costume led to one of the principal characters Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) to refer to her as Professor Robin Hood! Quite amazing to hear Robin Hood being called a professor and a female one at that.

Robin Hood: Ghosts of Sherwood: www.imdb.com/title/tt1572503/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1This horror approach to the Robin Hood legend here to be frank is quite shoddy and feels uncomfortable to watch for most of time. I certainly can’t say I am satisfy with how the movie ended.

Saw the Ark II episode simply called Robin Hood.
No this is not really a crossover as such of Robin Hood the legend with Ark II. It is instead someone calling himself that name as he battles against a Sheriff of Nottingham-type overlord with the Ark II team being in the midst. Not a bad take on the Robin Hood legend to the extent that this Robin Hood and his gang almost stole the show from the Ark II team.

Call The Midwife Season 2, Episode 5 featured a play of Robin Hood with all-school boys cast and it was basically the only thing that I could watch without any discomfort due to the episode’s main plot.

Herne’s Son Part 2: Season 3, Episode 2. Good conclusion to Herne’s Son with the band brought back together only with Robert as their new leader. Quite fun when Robert and Will fought on their first meeting but then again that was probably predictable on the outset.

In The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) Robin was played by Errol Flynn and Alan Hale Sr as Little John and directed by Michael Curtiz.
Both Hale and Curtiz worked with Flynn on other films and another movie that had the involvement of all three was The Sea Hawk (1940). In The Sea Hawk, Flynn and Hale played characters travelling in the high seas and that rather evokes the imagination of seeing Robin Hood and Little John in such a setting.

Saw the movie Dodge City starring Errol Flynn, Olivia De Haviland and Alan Dale, Sr in 1939 and all three were in the previous year’s The Adventures of Robin Hood as Robin, Marian and Little John respectively and both films were directed by Michael Curtiz.
Although these two films weren’t only ones to feature the same aforementioned actors and the same director, Dodge City does have something that is in contrast to The Adventures of Robin Hood. In Dodge City, the Flynn character becomes the sheriff of the title city. This is in contrast to the fact that in the Robin Hood movie, Flynn as Robin has a sheriff as a foe that is the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The Power of Albion: Season 3, Episode 3. Directed by Gerry Mill. This is the first episode directed by Mill and he had work on Doctor Who including directing the Patrick Troughton story The Faceless Ones and Troughton himself played the first TV Robin Hood in 1953. So Gerry Mill got to direct two Robin Hood actors Patrick Troughton and for Robin of Sherwood, Jason Connery. Quite good including Robin in his guise as Robert of Huntington pulling a trick on the Sheriff and Gisburne. Too bad there was a snag towards the end but still enjoyable nevertheless.

The Bandit of Sherwood Forest: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bandit_of_Sherwood_ForestThe Bandit of Sherwood Forest is a 1946 film that focused mainly on the son of Robin Hood, Robert of Nottingham played by Cornel Wilde. Robin Hood himself appears in this film played here by Russell Hicks. The storyline here has the band coming to the aid of the Queen Mother and Lady Catherine (Robert’s love interest) when the regent William of Pembroke (Henry Daniell) kept the boy King prisoner as he ruled in his name. The Bandit of Sherwood Forest is an enjoyable film that played well with the son of Robin Hood as its premise with Daniell pretty good as the villainous regent. Four years after The Bandit of Sherwood Forest came Rogues of Sherwood Forest which also played on the premise of the son of Robin Hood but with the different cast with the son in question being played by John Derek. While Rogues of Sherwood Forest told a different story from The Bandit of Sherwood Forest it did share the same cast member in George Macready who had played Fitz-Herbert in the earlier film and King John in the later film. The Bandit of Sherwood Forest & Rogues of Sherwood Forest were both seen as a possible sequel to The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) starring Errol Flynn and both these possible sequels certainly played well in the spirit of the Flynn classic.

Once Upon A Time is a show that features well known fantasy characters and Robin Hood is not immune to it as he appeared in 2.19 Lacey and he was played by Tom Ellis.

Tom and Jerry: Robin Hoodwinked: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Hoodwinked Saw it on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2-AUJfdlI0 The premise here is that of Robin Hood being captured and held prisoner at Nottingham castle. Jerry and friend Tuffy (another mouse) goes on a mission to rescue Robin with Tom as the guard. Good fun little adventure of Tom and Jerry in the Robin Hood legend although in this case we do not see Robin at all.

In the past few hours saw two Robin Hood actors in non-Robin Hood roles.
First I finished seeing They Died With Their Boots On starring Errol Flynn (The Adventures of Robin Hood) and his Marian, Olivia de Havilland then I finished seeing The Lost World 1.11 Creatures of the Dark which guest starred Remi Broadway (K9: The Last Oak Tree).
